3.6kW Solar on a Grade II Listed Property in Bath

Bath, Somerset (BA1) — Grade II listed Georgian townhouse

A Georgian townhouse in central Bath required Listed Building Consent and panels that were invisible from the street. A sensitive installation on the rear roof slope.

The Challenge

Listed Building Consent required detailed heritage impact assessment. The conservation officer required all-black panels invisible from any public viewpoint. The rear roof had partial shading from a neighbouring chimney stack.

Our Solution

We prepared a comprehensive Listed Building Consent application with photomontages and heritage impact statement. Sigenergy panel-level optimisation compensated for partial shading. All-black panels on the rear slate roof are completely invisible from street level.

The Result

Consent granted on first application. The system generates 3,528 kWh annually despite the shading, covering approximately 85% of the household electricity needs. Zero visual impact from the street.

“We were told by two other installers that solar was not possible on a listed building. Matt handled the entire consent process and the installation is invisible from the road. Exceptional service.”
